EXC!TiNG Postdocs

Dr. R. Laskowsky

Nationality: Polish
Date of birth: 10.09.1970
Employed at: Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Aarhus, DK-8000 Aarhus C, Denmark
Employed as: post-doc. First employment related to the network EXCITING.
Employment period: 1 June 2003 - 31 May 2005
Research field: Theoretical condensed matter physics, electronic and magnetic properties of solids, nearly localized electrons, correlation effects. RL has also before his present employment contributed to the development of the WIEN2k code, a "core" program package of the network.
MSc degree: 1994, Technical University in Gdansk (Poland).
PhD degree: 2000, Technical University in Gdansk (Poland).
Previous employment:
1994- : Research Assistant at the Solid State Dept., Technical University in Gdansk (Poland).
2001-2003: Post-doc at the Technical University of Vienna (Austria).

Role in the network: Code development: Completion and testing of the WIEN2k-based LAPW code to the calculation of non-collinear magnetism including LDA+U and spin-orbit coupling. Optics: Further development of codes for calculation of optical properties of solids including electron-hole correlations (excitonic effects) by solution of the Bethe-Salpeter equation, so that crystals without inversion symmetry can be treated. Applications to materials such as compound semiconductors and maybe low-dimensional structures.
