EXC!TiNG Postdocs

Dr. Torsten Andersen

I earned my Ph.D. in Mathematics and Physics in 1998 from Aalborg University, Denmark, where I worked on a Theoretical Study of Phase Conjugation in Mesoscopic Interaction Volumes under the supervision of Prof. dr. scient. Ole Keller.

After my Ph.D., I went to Berlin, Germany, for a year, working for the EU TMR NOMOKE network on nonlinear surface magneto-optics from first principles. This work was continued at the Max-Planck-Institute of Microstructure Physics in Halle (Saale) within the framework of the EU TMR Dynaspin and the DFG SFB 418, the latter one at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

I am now working at Uppsala University within the EU RTN EXCITING, with collaborations with the network nodes Kaiserslautern and Graz. My present scientific interests include, but are not limited to:

My scientific contributions to the EXCITING network are mainly connected to M15 and M11, and the main organizational contribution was the Summer School 2003 at Riksgränsen.

After my time in Uppsala I will be working at the Kaiserslautern group, where I will continue the different works on nonlinear magneto-optics, as well as being involved in the planning of the conference in 2005.
